The goal of this project is to design and produce a device capable of producing and transmitting directional sound. With this device, users could be able to experience personal audio without using any equipment blocking their ears.
In order to produce directional audio, ultrasonic transducers used for playback instead of conventional speakers. Signal conditioning and processing done with the combination of ultra-low power microcontroller, audio codec and digital signal processing ICs at very high frequencies. Industrial design of the device completed with the feedback of the focus groups and hardware limitations.
Specialized printed circuit boards designed and produced for the evaluation of the signal processing ICs required to work with very high frequencies. For the proof of concept stage, an MVP developed to proove the concept's applicability to the client and focus groups. After the proof of concept stage, two main prototypes and a final prototype developed.
Device allows users to experience their personal audio with keeping the awareness at the same time.
